FJ80 TREs?

I am getting specially built center link and drag links built for my axels. The guy that is building them makes them for jeeps and only uses chevy TREs. I was told that for me to run chevy ends I would have clearance issues with my springs. So I was wondering if anyone by any chance would know what the thread is like on the FJ80 TREs because he needs to know if he can get the tie rods tapped.

Thanks
Chris

I am not sure of the exact diameter, but the threads on the FJ-80's are quite a bit bigger than the Chevy ends. I think they are 23 mm on the FJ's and the Chervy's are around 9/16" (which is approximately 14 mm). Call Marlin Crawler or Sky manufacturing. They both use FJ ends on their stuff. I looked at using both and settled on the FJ ends mainly because I already had them. I did not see any huge difference in clearance issues between the two though. If there are any, it seems as though they would be slight.

FJ80 TREs are 23X1.5mm thread. You may find the tap for the RH thread, but the LH tap is a virtual unicorn.

How do they do the LH ones if the taps are impossible to get?

I think the ball joint on the Chevy end is bigger, but the threaded end is smaller. Since ball joints only experience axial load and both the Chevy and FJ-80 ones are beafy, the size of the threaded end doesn't affect overall strength. Sooo, technically your right

They're not impossible to get, just difficult. They are also expensive when you do find it.
