OT: A horrible loss

Guys I ask each one of you to not forget the many servicemen that are currently deployed protecting this awesome freedom that we so much enjoy. This past week I lost two very dear friends in Baghdad. These guys are the ones that provided security for me while I was working there earlier this year. Three more were wounded, one of them critically. These guys were my teammates and I am having a hard time dealing with the loss. Please don't forget these brave men. Thanks!!

Thank you Art and all the other service men and women that work so hard to keep us free.

We will not forget your contribution.

My 15 year old son wants to join the service and I can't tell you how proud that makes me.

NC Zuk, Nothing in life is free, more so with freedom. I thank you and thank so many othermen and women for putting their lives on the line each and every day so that we can enjoy the freedom that so many of us americans take for granted!

When my children are old enough, I'm gunna talk with them about joining.

Their families and yours are in my prayers! God bless!

Man...sorry to heard that Art.

I was really thinking about this Friday. Had a guy at the shop who in in the reserves and is heading back to Kuwait for the THIRD time forcing him to quit mechanic school. He is a young guy and really poor.

Last time he was there he had to dive out ot a semi doing about 40mph when it was ambushed. He broke both ams and dislocated a shoulder. His brother is on the way home from Iraq now after being seriously wounded.

Talking to someone like this face-to-face just really got me thinking about how much some people are giving up and going through for US!

My thanks go out to all of you for your service!

Jim

Thanks everyone for your replies. This one is really hard on me. The soldier mentioned was a really good friend of mine. As for all the others mentioned, it is amazing to see all that the soldiers are giving up at home to go and do what they are doing. Now that I have my new job the chances of me going back are greater than ever. I'm ready and I have a little revenge on my mind.

Thanks again guys.

Working over there is a dangerous job, whether you are truck driver or a door kicker.

It's a dangerous work environment even without bad guys shooting at you. The media's coverage is turning it into a "meat grinder". Overall, our casualty rate is extremely low considering what we have accomplished.

I hope other countries will start to contribute troops and support so the price we pay is not ours alone.

Losing team mates is like losing brothers. Nothing I can say will make the loss any easier. I know on one hand you wanted to be there with them and on the other hand you are thankfull that you weren't - because that could have been you.

My hat is off to all those that serve.

Really sorry to hear about the loss of your friends. We have also lost a friend recently in the hurricane who was doing his best to help others.
Sad but true.

I want to thank each and everyone of you for your support. You have no idea how much I really appreciate it. Being in the Army is something that I wanted to do since I was about 6 or 7 yrs old. I just knew that it was for me. I love my job and there is no other like it. Being in the Army Special Forces (aka the Green Berets) is like being part of a family. I never have to look over my shoulder as I know someone is there to protect me. I don't know what else I would ever do. The Special Forces motto is De Oppresso Liber. It latin means FREE THE OPPRESSED and that is exactly what we are doing in Iraq. God bless each one of you and God Bless America!!

Art,
Sorry to hear about the loss. My prayers are with them and their families, as always. I've lost a few friends to training accidents and the attack on the pentigon, and its never easy. Just remember you've got friends and family to lean on when you need them, and the military always has someone you can talk to if you need it.

Thanks also to all the others on this board for the great support and feedback for those of us serving our country, it really does make a difference knowing we have that kind of support behind us.

I was there in Baghdad when it happened, we were supporting a unit putting in a Johnson bridge a couple miles away. Glad to be back in Kuwait for now. They have it rough in Baghdad, I pray for them every night. I hate being here and watching the numbers go up almost every day. It's insane. I'm sorry for your loss, it's very hard to lose friends, especially this way. I'm living on Arifjan right now, but we may be headed up there to Fallujah soon. You're in my prayers, as are the all the friends and families of the heroes who keep people like me safe while they're out on the perimeter every night.
