SM465 in Zuk?

Anybody seen a samurai with a SM465 trans swapped in? If so, did it still use the NP205 T/C?

Anybody got pictures?

I think that tranny and case would weigh more than stock sammy.

I am sure an NP205 will not fit between the frame rails. Not sure on a Dana300, but I do have a SM465 to Dana300 Novak adapter for sale for $300 plus shipping....

are you looking for a tougher tranny, or are you looking for the lower first gear...you lost out running the lower first gear when you have to use a t-case that is 2:1 at best.

Cheap, tough and available transmission that will bolt up to a 90* chevrolet motor were my reasons.

First gear & low will be right at where my GRS1 is now....but with more motor.

your original post did not state that you were swapping a motor, just a trans.

Yep, my samuari motor is in sad shape. It was real tired BEFORE I hydro-locked it. Now it has a coolant leak on the intake side close to where the head and block meet. I can't really tell what is leaking, but I don't think it is worth fixing anymore.

I wish I could stumble upon a light weight engine and transmission that made serious horsepower. Some sort of aluminum V6 would be cool.

Russ Hogan run these trannies in all his Samis with RX-7 motors. Uses the stock t-cases also. One of them runs two front Mog axles with 44" TSLs.
