What type of fuel pump are you using? Maybe it's running out of gas at high rpms.

It's called a rev limiter. It hits at 5500rpm. Gives the symptoms that it's bogging out and running like shit.
Now i know why they were invented

why in the world would you need to go to that high of an RPM? the tourqe band is what? between 3000 and 4000 rpm?
going over that amount is pointless imo

How do you get the rev limiter out? You don't. Unless you have some tecno wizard to reprogram the e-prom inside the ecm.
But i think you learn how to re-gear the truck somehow, or add a locker. You should leave it in there before you blow up that motor, or even worse fly off the edge of no mans land when you lanch it and get hurt. Oh yeah. lil beast i'm here. Lurked long enough to know. Knowing what ? who cares.

I find it kind of hard to believe that the rev limter is that frickin low. Someone needs to verify that it is indeed the rev limiter because that is just way to low of an RPM range....my jeep 4.0 limits at that range and it isn't DOHC!!!
