Lucky 13 questions

I'm lookin' at runnin' the sidekick tranny/t-case behind the 1.3 in the zuk. I searched but the seach won't take 13. So for the next guy Lucky Thirteen. Aight, questions, what clutch do I need? Can I up grade to the larger flywheel and clutch off the 1.6? Are the pilot bearings the same? Is the 1.6 tranny still a cable actuated clutch? Thanks for any help on this

If your using the 1.6 tranny, you can just use the 1.6 flywheel/clutch/pressure plate.

Use the 1.6 pilot.

Yes, the 1.6 is cable actuated.

So the 1.6 flywheel will bolt right up to the 1.3 crank, no problem?

That is correct.

You will also need a 1.6 starter.

As tdavis has said it all any other questions feel free to contact me. Lucky 13 runs $59.00 and will do exactly what you want to do with it.
Your other option is the RingR which adpts the 1.6 Bell to a Toy trans.

That is actually what I am lookin' at for a later date, but at this time my buddy has got a sidekick tranny/t-case that I can get for perty much nothin'.
figured I could throw that in front of the sammi case for now, see how long it takes to demolish the sammi case. Then I'll go lookin for toy cases!

Do the 1.6 5-speed tranny and the 1.6 auto 3-speed tranny have the same bolt pattern at the engine? I'd like to use the Lucky 13 to mate the auto behind the 1.3L if this is possible.

I ran the Lucky 13/Ringer combo for a while nice product, however it left me want more motor. I had the gears to go with the tires, but that was it, the 1.3L just didn't cut it for me.

Thats kinda what I was thinking. If I were going to use the sidekicks tranny and transfer case I think I'd just use the kick motor even the 1.6 8V is better then the 1.3L

I can't argue with your reasoning but I want to try and use what I already have sitting on the shop floor. My LWB has no motor or tranny right now. I have in my possession the following:

- one 1.3L engine.
- one auto 3-speed 4x4 tranny from a Track-Kick.
- one stock Track-Kick transfercase (which I'll likely send to OTT for the Kicker3 set-up).
- one stock Samurai transfercase still in place in the LWB.

Good 1.6Ls are hard to find here and everyone wants a mint even for a rusted-out POS Track-Kick. Seems since the Lucky 13 is so cheap it would be the logical choice right now. Later on I'll swap out to a 16-valve if I can find one and be done with it.

So, will I be able to use the auto with the Lucky 13???

Yes you should be able too same bolt pattern as the standard trans

yes, they are the same, BUT the converter is big and just fits in the bellhousing. I have a 1.3 and torque converter in the garage and I just went out and held the converter onto the back of the 1.3. The lower engine-to-trans bolts are further inboard on the 1.3 and come real close to the converter. I am not sure how the Lucky 13 hooks up but it may be an issue

Thats pretty much where it lead me, however the lucky gave me option between the 2 of them until I had more money to do the motor.

That's how I'm looking at it too. I'd rather spend the money on the Kicker3 right now. Lower gearing is more important than more horsepower at this stage. It's easy to swap in the 1.6L later when I find a good one.

OK, forgive me here, I'm ultra nOOb when it comes to Zuks.

I have the my tin-top behind the shop and the 1992 Tracker with a 1.6 on the trailler...I haven't even looked at the things yet. I am planning on using the 1.6 in the Zuk. The Zuk came with a new-in-the-box clutch for the 1.3. It's sitting on the driver's seat. I'm assuming that this will NOT work with the 1.6. Correct?

no, it wont work just sitting on the drivers seat, you need to install it. Yes it will work (along with the sami flywheel) if you install the 1.6 in the sami with the samis transmission.
