1.3 problems

So I got this 87 sami and the guy said that his water pump went out and it overheated. It then started blowing white smoke. So I bring it home and find water in the oil as I expected. I changed the head gasket and timing belt, etc. Now it still runs good but it still blows a ton of smoke. I searched and I guess I should have checked for warpage but are there any other common places for this sort of leakage. If there is something to check I would like to be able to before I rip it apart again. Maybe I'll go looking for a 1.6 tomorrow.

Yes, go quickly and buy a 1600. And can I have this worthless 1300? No charge for hauling it away.

I have found that every 1300 I tear into needs the intake manifold resurfaced. It can/will suck coolant into the intake with a tiny amount of warpage. I think.. I have always found big warpage.

Do a compression check to see if the rings are shot.

Gauranteed the head's warped if he blew the head gasket from overheating it. I've never seen a head that didn't warp in these circumstances.

I totally agree...aluminum heads are VERY susceptible to warpage when they overheat. I'd say this is the most likely problem...
