Zuk w/XJ's Front and Rear
Here are pic's of a friends Zuk. He installed a set of Cherokee rear leaf springs in the front and in the rear. It also has Missing-Link in the front and looooong drop bars in the rear similar to what Tim Porter uses. This thing flexes link mad!

Drop bars have been proven to work well when done right (Tim Porter, Jeff Pollock, and maybe a few others). But if you want insurance - add a limiting strap from the diff to the frame. This allows for all the articulation you want without allowing both sides to drop at once.

Do you have a plain old side-shot to get an idea of wheel base and axle placement?

seems like it would flex plenty with just the xj leaves. how much flex is to much? i've been pondering that question for awhile, and it seems it isn't as much as i used to think.

I have a friend with what appears to be a flatfender Jeep (only thing Jeep is the grill) that is running a setup like that out back - it works better than you might think - but he has some wheel hop issues (not axle wrap - bounce). He is going to run a set of coilovers with it to see if he can control the hop better. I've seen him step up on some stuff with that setup that the rest of us just sit back and look at...

Here's a few flexy pic's. This is all I have right now until the traction bar gets fixed:

That's wild. How can the springs twist so much under that kind of extreme articulation? Is he using something other than bushings in the spring eyes?
I guess a trac bar is a must for this kind of setup, even if you used 6 leaf YJ springs?

Yeah, I understand the drop bar concept (really just a super long missing link). What I wonder about is as one side droops way down, the leaf spring has to start twisting. If that rear axle is at 45 degrees, the spring is really twisting and torqued up. Wouldn't this create some nasty leverage on the drop bar mounts or bushings and tear something off?
As for off-camber sidehills, wouldn't a limit strap help fix it?
