radiator help

ok ive searched around and havent really found what im lookin for. i just put a 1.6 8v in my sammy. i am running the stock sammy radiator in it now but it is running waaayy too hot. ive heard that the stock radiators will cool a 1.6 fine but would it matter that i have a sumo 2 head on it and a header? plus i live in az or do you think my problem lies elsewhere? also if i do need a bigger radiator what can i run in it that will still fit? thanks in advance.

put an electric fan on it. Completely remove the stock clutch fan. Problem solved

**NEW** ultra high efficiency 3 core radiator with super fine fins. These radiators are ALL NEW, not re-cores! No core return is required!
TT sells this one...I think it's a direct fit.

I'd try Rockrats pusher fan idea first though.

We used an off the shelf autozone electric fan 12 or 14" it just fit the radiator section.

I have the same engine and it ran too hot as well. I got the 3-core radiator, the direct-drive fan, use water wetter, and moved my power steering cooler completely out of the air flow. It runs warm now. It'll stay around 180 until I go crawlin in the heat, and then it will get to 195 to 200. Hotter than I would like, but not deadly hot.

A good electric fan is the ticket for cooling, unless/until it stops working......

try checking at a forklift shop. A forklift radiator has about a million cores... and they are small in size.

from what I recall the 1300 radiator is ok for the 1600 16 v not for the 8 valve. I am shure there are those who have done it. A modded 8 valve is probably worse yet.

The options I know of are the Trail Tough 3 core radiator (last I knew they were the cheapest for them) or

kick / tracker 2 door radiator requires some custom work to fit it.

Is this a common problem? I mean other than stuffing your engine compartment with mud, how often has a good, high-quality electric fan just quit?

ok now im really confused. im pretty sure now my samurai is just possesed. i went out and got me a 12" electric fan from auto zone. fabbed up some new radiator mounts so the fan would fit as a pusher. so i fire it up and let it sit. it gets to about half way and stays there at idle. so i drive it down the street and come back and it gets to about 3/4 of the way on the temp guage and just stays there. so i figure the fan must be working cause its keeping it at this temp. so i shut the fan off and the temp guage drops down to 1/2 way. turn the fan back on and it goes to 3/4. turn it off and back down to half. what the heck is up with that?

Pushers SUCK!!!!! You need a puller, And the 3 core rad is NOT bigger than the reg 2 core. It just has 3 small core vs. 2 big cores. If the 2 core is in good shape it *should* be fine with an elc PULLER fan
