What do you use for spring clamps?
I've pulled my spring packs apart a number of times trying this'n that. But I had to cut the big rivet originally, in order to get them all apart. Now I need to replace the spring clamp. Using an old one, or building one shouldn't be a problem, but how can I keep them in place? I was thinking of welding a thin strap to th etop of the clamp, and having it extend toward the shackle and hook on to something there to keep it in place.
(yes, I searched, thanks fer asking)

try tacking a little threaded stud in the hole where the rivet went. keep the heat low, though. my buddy used hose clamps on his yoter. no, they didn't work out.
