Post extended wheelbase

Hey guys! I am puttin the shaffer coil kit and toy axles under my rig pretty soon(when the kit arrives), but I dont know how far back I will be able to move the rear axle before I will need to move the gas tank that is unless I wont be coming in contact with it, but I dont plan on being that high. Anybody know how far I can move the axle back? Should I move the gas tank inside the bed? thanks!

i think i was able to move the rear about 2" or 3" without hitting the gas tank... then i took it out and moved the rearend back another 10" i'm putting a cell in the cab but it wouldn't be hard to just move the stock forward a little. theres room. i moved my front forward about 6" but you have to be careful here. i have my steering box mounted about 4.5" forward of where the stock box was. otherwise my tie rod and draglink would have hit during flex.

THanks poppy for the info. I really like the way you got your rig set up, its awesome. I ordered that coil kit from mike shaffer and now I dont know how much I will be able to move the rear back cause dont know how he is gonna make up the crossmember for the rear links, think I am gonna have to call him and let him know I wanna move the rear back at least 10". For the front I think I will move it forward about 2". HEy what are you doing for transfer case arms? Did you just reinforce yours or buy some?

You should short'n the wheel base so that your tires touch, no one has done that yet.

i think telling him that would make good sense. the control links will be 10" too short if you don't. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
