Look for the usual thingslike leaks, especially at the distributor. Noisy transmissions and the everpresent rusty JAP sheetmetal, I'm sure that I missed a few things, but I'm sure that others will chime in.

Hi There
One big thing to watch for, up here anyway, Rust under the wheel flairs. The flairs hide it well so look closely. Also rust in the back corners of the floor. A 1984 SJ410 will give you the low range T-case. A 1990's Sami will give you injection. There are a couple things to look for anyway. I’m sure others will have more hints for you.
