Post Anyone know anythhing about wild west

Thinking if I end up getting a sammi i might put a 2.9 in cause i know that motor pretty well anyone know anything about this company. Web page looks kinda outof date.

Why not find a Zuk with a good motor and use the time and money to do the gears or suspension work? I like the 1.3L I have in my 94' cause it runs well and hasn't given me a problem yet. To me it would be a waste to change out a good motor. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Tim Lund is the tech Manager at ARB USA,and a member of http://www.wazuks.ws/ his email still works, and he is still doing custom work on the side.. nice stuff, if you look at zukiworld.coms and the reader ride's JT.Benzens is there w/ the coilover's theres' also a pic of JT's on RRO's website under the action shots or something like that <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0">..Tims work is great, and he's a great guy, Give him call, I haven't talk to him in a while, but its always worth the try.. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

From what I know, Tim Lund is a very creative guy & has some good ideas - never done any business with him, tho.
I know he designed a custom tailshaft to go on the back of a Zuk 5 speed tranny that uses Toy t-cases. It's a one-off that cost a fortune to build, but it's kewel. The OTT kit would be a more cost-effective option now.

Regarding the Ford engine swap, I personally don't know anyone who has done the swap, but it's bound to have advantages over the Chebby swaps, for the distributor location if nothing else <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> Last time I checked, you had to run a c4 automatic with that swap - can't say I'd recomend that POS <IMG SRC="smilies/puke.gif" border="0">

I'm actually planning something similar to this right now.. Ford 2.8L / C4 / dual Toy transfer cases. NorthWestOffroad makes a C4 to Toy transfer case adapter, and as far as the C4 being a POS, aside from having a crappy first gear (thats what dual tcases are for).. the tranny is fantastic. I'll be pulling my tranny out of my 92LX (manual valve body, kevlar bands, one piece input shaft, Performance Automatic servo, C5 main drum (can use an extra band with it)).. it's lived for years in some pretty fast configurations in my Mustangs.. Im sure it'll eat up Samurai duty with ease.

The C4 may hold up fine behind a 2.8L but I toasted a Bunch of them in my Mustang with a 351 (back in 'the day'). If you're a slush-box kinda guy, that sounds like a pretty neat set-up.

You probably already know, but you can get a tad lower 1st in that C4 with a 4 cyl. gear.

Yeah, and there are a few companys making a 2.84:1 gearset for the C4 as well, but I dont see the real benefit.. with dual transfer cases it'll be all good. I never ran a stock C4 (not like there is ALOT of money into mine.. about $600), but its survived behind a stock 302 in my GT, then a built 302, then a built 351.. all running a 150 shot of nitrous, and going anywhere from 12.5's to high 10's... ALOT of late model mustang guys run C4's.. the aftermarket for them is huge, and with a little bit of money, can handle insane abuse. My reason for the 2.9 are mainly to be different also the power numbers are not to bad hp=140 @ 4600rpm torque= 170 @ 2600rpm I have that motor in my ranger now with over 210k with very few problems. I would do the c4 tranny and use the stock t case with a 4.1 kit probably run wagoneer axles with the stock gears in it. between the reduction in high in the t case and the stock gears and extra power it should move down the road pretty good. I have heard you can put an aod planitary set in to get rid of the low gearing problem as well. now the only problem is will the t case hold up to the extra power.

I have a ford 2.8/c4 in my samurai. it works really well for me. I bought my kit form wild west off-road. he can be a tough guy to get ahold of, but if you keep trying you will get ahold of him(best time i found is on the weekends).

The kit basicaly just comes with motor mounts and instructions.

I think the ford 2.8/2.9 makes for a really good swap if you want an inexpensive way to get more hp. the 2.8 is a light motor, and the c4 can be made short enough to use the stock zuki tcase(it will need to be moved back about 1-2"'s).
