if you have the power and the RPM sounds like the problem a new motor won't help. I'm tired of the same thing, that's why I trailer.

I hear you on trailering, but I don't like the idea of trailering it, I like driving it to where ever I go wheeling, that way me and the wife can spend some time enjoying our selves and this silly little truck. and I tried bigger tires.. sucked to much power to make the passes worth while. besides w/ 80+k on my current engine, i might have 60k more and then a rebuild or something..I can get a great deal on that toy 22r for less then what a rebuild would cost me....:questions: to much to do, and not enough :$:... the motor is strong, and burns no oil..i just can't live w/ the highway speed and power, the EFI sure makes a DIFF..wait you have EFI..from one Fatguy to one Fatkid, I really have no Idea what its worth, I would rather sell the hole engine, but I could part it out, what would you want for the TBI setup, you got a Toy Tcase or other needed parts,,... email me off list Phatty..and I'll let you know..

Honestly... If you are going to convert to a Yota drivetrain, don't buy your friends stuff. It's not EFI (unless you meant 22RE, not 22R) if you're not sure, look under the hood. Air cleaner in center of engine bay on top of carb = 22R. Air cleaner in box on fender, connected to intake manifold with plastic pipe = 22RE. As you know, EFI is the sheet when it comes to wheeling. EFI yotas are also good for another 20h.p. because they use a different head and cam. The 22RE 4-popper is extremely reliable, and commonly runs to 300k with out a rebuild if well maintained. The only thing you need to watch out for is the timing chain. The EFI engines had plastic timing chain guides, which can wear out and let the chain rub against (and eventually through) the timing cover. Put a set of DOA's metal-backed guides in and forget about it until it's time to swap in a new chain. If you're converting to 22RE, I think the best way to go would be get a whole truck. Your friends isn't EFI, and (even if it is) doesn't have the rest of the drivetrain anyway. You need to find an 84 (rare) or 85 (most) with EFI. You can get a pair of axles, and the whole drivetrain off the sucker, usually pay less for a parts truck than buying all this seperate, and then go get a 2nd Xfer case from the junkyard, drop allpro bout $400, and you're crawling with a 5.2:1 low range and 128:1 overall (with 5.29 gears), without even doing 4.7:1 gears! Oh, you'll also have about 135 hp and (unlike a sammy) 145 lb.ft. of torque.

Opps, my mistake,
it is the EFI one, I thought the 22r was, He has the wiring harness, and computer and everthing, he's going to give me a killer deal on his axles w/ 5.29's and ARB's so, you know help a friend out, by buying his crap, and he gives me a deal, and I help him move up to D60's..he he..should be fun. besides his dad has already alotted us the shop time to do both trucks at once. -Thanks for the info... -Adam C.
