I've own a toyota for about six years now, and I just bought a sami for $150. I'm planning on building this up for wheeling as well as a daily driver. Would the sumo gears give enough reduction to run 33's with the stock ring and pinion. I hear they are supposed to give about a 24% reduction in high range. Will this be enough for 33's or will I need new ring and pinions?

That is more than enough for 33's....you could probably run 35's???
Brings you to 84:1 crawl with stock R&P....that is what i have with grs1 and 5.38's!....and im on 37's... [ 10-22-2001: Message edited by: RudeZuk ]

I know these gears will be great in low range, I'm just want to know how well the engine will be able to turn 33's on the street. I drive about 35 miles a day on the highway and I don't want any less power than stock...
