Sumo 6.1 install?

Who's done the install? and what can you tell me about it? Was it straight forward or are there any hard spots that you incountered. I'm prob going to get a set, just want to know more about them.

Thanks

BTW: i read the article on offroad.com, i just want more collaboration from others who have done it.

take your case apart first, you will more than likely need the countershaft and the needlebearings, spacers etc for that shaft. these bearings also do not come in the rebuild kit for the tcase. the countershaft is about 20 bux through suzuki. every shaft ive seen stock has been worn in the same place. i'll have pix up in a couple days with pn# numbers.would hate for ya'll to ruin a set of 900$$ gears over 40 bux worth of parts.. better to get ALL the parts ya need than to be waiting for gears, then waiting for suzuki on shafts and bearings.

I have probably installed more of these than any "one"...it's a fun thing to do if your carefull and like to play with a die grinder.....if not, and want a case setup so all you need to do is change out the bearings, plop the gears in and glue it all together...we'll do that for a small amount.....you need to send back your "good stock case" .....

right now, we (AAPA) have these gears marked for only $800 (cash/check/money order) or $830 (Cc/Visa/Mastercard)....they do not include anything other than the required gears......we offer bearings, seals, gaskets and all other needle bearings and counter shaft....along with 2 wheel low shift patern and vent tube mod....

we have 10 sets that we need to go pick up as soon as they are finished.....(any day now) these are sold.....
but we have another 15 sets that will be finished before the end of this month (May) of those 4 are sold......it will be 12 weeks before any more are ready.....and with the write-up in Four Wheel Drive coming out soon..they will be gone fast......

Now if i hit the occasional mud hole here in Texas, these gears won't be too low after i do my D44 swap with lower gears (5.38's)... I plan on doing more trail/crawling than mud, but will encounter it. Til i get the $$$$ to finish my swap, i'm running 32" tires on stock running gear.

Dave of AAPA:

with the gears being $800 right now, what is the grand total for a set with the rest of the stuff needed (bearings, seals, gaskets and all other needle bearings and counter shaft). Can you also quote me the 2 wheel low shift pattern and vent tube mod too.

Thanks

nope. you will just use 4th gear. i say this based of calculations of gear ratios one a zuke that was running a 4to1 with 36" tires and 5.38's in the pigs. the mud slinging gears will be 4th and maybe 5th.

I climb hills in high range, 4wheel drive first gear, where I used to have to go to low range....while in Moab, on most trails I had to use 3rd gear to keep up with the others.....and where Eric aka Stomper did a back flip cause he had to get-it-awn.....I climbed right up in low range 1st gear..no gas....
on Upper Helldorado, someone asked if I could go any slower..LOL they was pissed I was holding up the group.....the fun part of Upper Helldorado is after the last waterfall..take the left fork....dem rocks are fun....Brent (TT) has six-to-ones too..made it look like flat land.....;-)

anyway, first gear high range is kickass in most places.....

well, it's like when Trail Tough came out with 4.16 gears....he priced them just above his cost....it's a "lead-in item" good for getting customer's to your site.....

the Sumo Gears don't cost us anything "up front" and by marketing them for a friend....they allow us to have a write-up done in a 4 wheel drive magazine and on Off-road.com.....

free ad's Rule!

oh, and I am either an idot or a nice guy!...LOL

ok, this is not totaly correct......they used to not cost us anything "up front", but now we pay $100 per set to have them made, then pay the rest to get them here (or we go after them-with the rest of the $$$)

with the next 10 bought and paid for, and the next 15 ordered (via $100 per set paid up front)...

the next order won't be made for 90 days from the end of May...we wanted to make sure we get ALL of them....and will not be "undersold"
