6:1 tcase gears - stock diffs

hi all, newbie here
i've got myself a set of 33"s and was wondering if a 6:1 gearset would be enough to run them without changing the diff gears? i was going to put a 1.8l engine and box in it but now am thinking about keeping it simple and keeping the stock 1.3.
i'm use the zook to drive the few miles to work everyday but it is built with mud in mind more than street driving..it's tin top spoa on yjs

your thoughts please

6:1 is what you want with 33's and stock diffs. It actually says that on the website too if you look here http://www.worcester-networks.com/rsmfg/sj_tbox.htm

Not many people know that Rob used was the original manufacturer for the Calmini Suzuki gears many years ago before they farmed it out somwhere cheaper... Also, worth considering that the lower the R&P gearing the weaker the diff gears get if you do go down that route. You may want to uprate your t-case mounts eventually with a 6:1 as it will place alot of strain on them when crawling...

hey sooty

i got the impression i could run stock diffs but what i was looking for was opinions based on experience more than a vendors point of view or just speculation.
i figured it would be worth asking on this u.s. board because it's everyday stuff across the pond unlike in the uk

I would surmise that 6:1s with stock axles on 33s is a recipe for broken parts if not driven carefully. My .02 (even though you limeys may not know what 2 cents is )
Travis..

Ill be runnin 6.4:1 tcase and 32's with stock zuk axles and welded up in the rear. If it breaks, it breaks, then its time for the yota axles.

You could also run SJ413 diffs instead of full R&P. Their a bit lower and just as strong as sami ones. Rob is not only a vendor, but a long standing competitor - you can pay him to do your R&P instead if you want, he does'nt care its still money! Still as mentionned above even if you swap diffs, or do R&P, 33's is still big for stock axles and won't help with breakages.

i've been running 31" tyres with the same aggressive tread pattern for a while without breaking anything, i think i'll get the gears and hope for the best.
the engine swap would be nice but now the zooks to tall to go under the garage door so i'm stuck with it outside now. as it's october the days are going to be. too short, wet and windy from now on to be dicking around on the drive with a big project like engine swaps. balls to it - i'll get the gears and uprate the axles as i go

and travis, i know what 2 cents is - your 2 cents is worth a penny in english money

I ran a 6:1 case with 33" swampers and stock axle gearing with lockers. The gearing was nice, but I broke front axles frequently.

I don't know if this helps or not but I am running a 4.9 t-case with 33's and 4:62's and on the high way it is all right and off road is still crawls pretty good with 33's, most of the guys here will complain about breaking stock axles alot , but I am willing to bet alot of them are good at breaking toyotas too some of these guys could break a dana 60 I tell ya
but its all in the name a of a good time. I wheel spin pretty good here and there with my bald tires and I am sure I ll break eventually but.... I ll fix it and break it again.

I think the 5.14s are the ticket for 33s and 3.73s

i'm gonna stock up on shafts - take it easy on the skinny pedal and see how it goes. if it's too tough on the axles it's gonna have to be yota time next spring

it's a big mud hole as far as wheeling goes over here though so it can't be as hard on the shafts as scrambling up big rocks like you yanks seem to be most of the time. worst part of it here is pulling stuck land rovers out the way so you can pass
