Tracker Transmission interchangeability question, need help quick!
hey guys, I've got a line on a new transmission for my samurai. It's got a motor swapped in from a 2003 model 2.5L tracker. It's got an automatic (2wd model) and I'm looking to install another automatic from a 2004 model, now a 4wd model with married transfercase.
I need to know if the 2004, 4x4 tranny will bolt up and talk to the computer of the 2003, 4x2 motor. Also, I know that 4:1 kits are available for the tracker t-case, who makes them and how much $$? I've gotta close this deal today to make it happen, so I need quick help! Thanks a bunch. Mike |

Apparently in order to make verything bolt up and plug/play I need a 99-00 transmission (smaller output shaft) and any transfercase with the small input shaft and a 26 spline output shaft. Otherwise I can't up lower gears in the case. So now I'm off to find a 99-00 transmission and transfercase, wish me luck. Mike |

You'll positively DROOL over what that 4:1 does to your low range!

No, actually I'll be pissed. I've already got a low gear kit in my zuk case, this will just keep me even on my low range (4.16:1 now, 4.2:1 then), and increase my high range from 1.8:1 to 1:1. Which means no more geting away with 4.10 gears, gonna have to swap in some 5.29's.
Now when I get the 5.29's setup, and I'm back to being able to use high range, and my low range is another 25% lower, then I'll be happy. The sole purpose of this transfercase exercise is to shorten my drivetrain, raise my belly, and lengthen my rear driveshaft. Right now my setup is really hard on rear u joints and is totally worthless for use at speed. This was never a problem when I was running leaf springs and mostly on rock trails, but now I've got airshocks and link suspension front and rear, I need to be able to go fast. The secondary purpose of this exercise is to get the rig fast enough that I can put my passenger in shotgun range of the coyotes on the ranch
