Radio Security
OK, OK... Geting pissed off here. This is the 3rd stereo stolen out of my Sammie. Alarm companies said there isn't an alarm to protect it. I need some help!
I want to keep it in the same spot. Any ideas? Ipod works up in the mountains but in town I want to listen to the radio and play my CDs. |

what about mounting it in a lock box (ammo can?) and using a wired marine remote on it so you can still control it from the dash...do you have an alarm? did it go off last time you got your radio jacked?

Nope, no alarm. How will that help? If I put it on the doors they just climb in over the back when the top is off plus I take the doors off in the summer. Proximity alarm would work except for the neighborhood cats. If I alarm the radio only so that it will go off when the power is disconnected then it is too late cause the radio is already out by that time.

What about a radio with a detachable face plate. They might still steal it, but what use would it be to them?

a goog alarm will have a shock sensor built in and ports to add more...If you backstrap your radio into the dash so it is a bitch to pull out and have your shock sensors sensitivity up your alarm will go off before they have a chance to pull it...I still think remotely mounted and controlled would be your best bet...

I had the same problem. Now I have a power amp mounted inside my locked, steel trail box and I just run my ipod straight to it. I built a cool little bracket between the seats that holds the ipod with velcro. The ipod volume control works great with the amp. Admittedly, if you like to listen to the radio this probably won't work for you. Maybe you could find one of the old pull out style head units. I used to have one in my CJ-5 and it worked ok.
