I actually looked into it. IT costs about $500CAN to put new tail housing parts on to convert it to 2wd. There is a planetary gear set in the tail shaft of the 2wd's. If you can find a 2wd tranny at a wreckers they should swap you straight ove. But finding one is like finding Hens Teeth. Good Luck, Hope this Helps.

hi
hey these planetary gears are they for reduction oor induction or do they reverse rotation ive seen a thread on this site for divorceing a toy t-case whos to say i couldnt do the same thing with this tranny if the p gears are steping up the gear ratio who needs em if there step down.;..... but at any rate the reduction could be handled by the sammy t-case as you said the 2wd tranny are hard to find 4wd is more common it would make sense to pursue this a little further just to see were it goes the reason why i posted this is because i didnt know i think a lot of people would be interrested in this kind of mod does any one know how mike schaffer did the dual t-case thing kuz that was my original intent rabidray |

I belive it was with an OTT adapter. I was going to run that setup but I am going to swap to a diesel so my 3speed tranny is out of the question.
As for the gears I am unsure. All I know is the tranny is 1:1 in drive and so is the t case in 2wheel drive and 4 wheel drive. Hope this helps a little bit.
