I would like to beat the person I bought this from HELP!
Ok, so I bought a sami that was supposed to be all done up with a calmini lift and basicaly had been completely rebuilt. Before I get into the story, the bottom line is that I need a crank pully for the timing belt if anyone has one around that are willing to give it up.
To make a long story short, I have had it 5 months, replaced 1 front cv shaft, brake lines, rebuilt front diff, new front drive shaft, all the brakes, transfer case, all of the electrical system, carb, ebrake cable. I still need to replace the timing belt. The crank pully for the timing belt has round teeth not square. I also still need to replace the master cylinder for the brakes as well, but that will come shortly. Someone please let me know if I can pick up the timing belt pully from them. I would be appriciative. |

I think a friend of mine found one for me.
"zukesofhazzard 1 front cv shaft? in a samurai? how many do you have in that thing?" Thats what they were calling them at the dealership. I knew them as axle shafts. |

Birfields are in facts CV (Constant Velocity or homokinetic) joints.
With U-joint, the output speed oscillate when it's running at an angle, that's why we feel a vibration if the joints in a driveshaft are out of timing. A double cardan is also called CV because the two joints are timed together to cancel the speed variation. Wiki page about CV joints. Wiki page about U-joints showing a graph about the speed oscillation. |
