I'm now wondering, if someone's gonna build a complete cage like that, (a subframe) and build a complete truck around it, why start with a sammy? with 49" tires on rockwells he was really close to just building a monster truck!!

The more and more full tube buggies that come on the scene, the more I like rigs like that. My "sammy" has around the same amount of body as that one, but I still like looks of it. If someone knew what they were looking for, they could still actually recognize that as a samurai (and to tell some Jeep guy that your Samurai is on rockwells, 49's and has a SB383 stroker under the hood must be tits!) :envy:

i agree that it's real hard to consider that a zuk anymore, but it really isn't anything else either. bottom line is that it is a cool rig.

I always thought it was based off your hood? Look's like a Zuk hood to me. Jim

Who bases it on the hood? If that were the case then confusedxj drives an F16 Falcon. Thats no zook anymore. Maybe he needed to keep certain recognizable parts like the targa bar and the hood in order to compete in a specific category.

I've always thought it was based on what body panels you were running myself (Zuk hood, firewall, targa, ect...), or what it started out life as.

you're right, maybe give an indicator of what it started as, but once you've completely replaced the powertrain, drivetrain, suspension, support frame and dimension... you have a frankenstein rig. Its not a samurai...not even a zook. It does provide an indicator of what kind of crazy nutjob must be in the driver seat!

pictures of this have been in four wheeler mag as a nomination for top truck. and it was for sale here a few years ago uncompleted.
this sami still has the frame/ hood and firewall and the tailgate was mood to behind the seats. to answer the question of building a sami over something else, this project grew to its form,,, it was just sopposed to get D44s and some 35s. |
