cool - have seen people mount winches like that (especially 8274s) which puts the full force of the winch against the tensile strength of the 4 small mounting bolts.

You can mount it as you like, it always comes down on those 4 bolts...

true, but I'll bet in shear they are stronger than in tension

Yep, small ones go inside, big ones outside. Just to be sure everything is lined up correctly and is strong again...

Figured it might be that way, but without a size comparison, was just guessing. Looks like a lot of grinding and sanding is in order for the outside.

Great build.

No idea. I guess the term 'tray back' comes from down under.....

You didn't make any kind of gig to weld it?
Aren't you afraid it might bend because of the heat?

Anyway, it looks great!

We welded just little pieces and always turned the axle over to weld another piece. Between every piece we welded was a lot of cooling time.
As far as we are able to measure, everything is straight...

Is that shock mount welded to the spring plate in single sheer?

Any reason you didnt do the axle side mount like your rear air shocks?

Have had that remark before. Is the stock springplate + shockmount of a Nissan Patrol 3.3l.
Maybe I'll make a support bracket like this:
