thinking about a sammy
i do a lot of camping and my wife was thinking it would be cool to get one of those UTV's...well after looking at used ones for 6500+ i'm leaning towards a sammy. it will fit perfectly in my toyhauler, but my question is will i fit? i am 6'5 215# my wife and two little ones 2 and 4...would they be comfortable enough for some desert fun, it won't be a commuter, just a camping rig...
btw if this is in the wrong area let me know....thanks.

Go for it, im 6'4" 200 and i fit fine. I would pick one over a utv as utv's are illegal just about everywhere in my area where as a street legal sammy is just fine.

I would get one that is built to the specs you would like to see it. Just make sure it will still fit in your toy hauler. It costs much more to build it. The way the economy is now, you can buy a modded one for pennies on the dollar.
I was in the same boat as you were, and ended up with a sami. Like mentioned above, they are much nicer to have due to streetability of them. |

Additionally, I moved my seats back about 3 inches, and it's comfortable to sit in now. It also has tracker seats in it now. Some good things to watch for would be gears, hi-steer, etc. If it has stock axles, and anything bigger than a 33, you'll be asking for trouble. Post up any you find, and we'll give you feedback.

I'm 6'3", 215 and it is not a problem when the doors are off, a little tight with them on. No way is there room for an internal cage, though. My kids (3 and 6) love it, plenty of room for them even with car seats. However, a friend asked my wife why she hasn't gone on any trail runs recently, and her response was "in that thing? yeah, right". Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess
