project too clean to cut up
so i came up on a 12,000 original mile samurai that was bought new in 1987 and in late 1988 was motor swaped with a ford 150hp sohc 2.0 with all paperwork and an auto transmission. the guy then sold it to his brother who finished all the wireing except the electric fan and just let it sit in his garage untill 2010 when i bought it. he said he last put gas in it in 96 and belive it or not i fires and ran bairly with a batery charge. new gas and it ran great. not bad for $1200
This will also be my first full build. loose plan #1 will seal up and have good heater for winter wheeling 6-1 tcase yota axles with full spools, six shooters, chromo shafts, better brakes, 5.29s etc 38-40" tires 4linked rear, three linked front full hydro clean tight exo 14" foa coilovers at all corners 108ish wheelbase with 18-20"under the belly camper style folding rear side windows. all the other lil stuff ill post as i go. 3month or less build time starting pics. just got done installing the 6-1 transfer case Last edited by 2big bronco; 05-23-2011 at 10:21 PM. |

with 40"mtrs also stolen from my friend a few doors down. lucky for him hes out wheeling and im 9hrs into this pile today. looks like im going to shorten the rear links about an inch and a half and keep the rear center 5" from back of cab and front 5" from front of hood making the wheelbase a strong 108. this pic is also with 18.5 under the belly

way to fuck up a perfect rig with that cut job. the lines you chose to cut it don't even look clean.
![]() why didn't you buy it, tune it up, and sell it for a pretty penny?

Looks like a good project and there's some nice fab work.
But I have to agree Why buy such a mint tin top and then hack it up? Especially when there are plenty of rot boxes out there with all the bodywork that you've chosen to keep, rot free and straight

ive had pretty good luck finding clean tin tops for around this price. i actually have another shell cleaner then this. i just chose this one cause it already had a decent motor in it. i plan on running 37/38s whatever i get for the right deal. also sheet metal triming isnt quite done, i couldnt think of a better place then along the factory body line and i really liked the sheetmetal look on this one.

But man, I wish my pile were as clean as that. I already have two spots on my frame I need to cut out and reweld some fresh steel on.

Saw it for sale but seemed a lil to pricey to me. I think minus my time ill have a lot less money into mine and every bit as capable of a rig. It does look sweet though
