2500lb lathe

1 and 5/8" pass through.

It's big... probably 12-14' long over all. I dunno. it's in sacramento. it's old... it works and needs very little to be in great shape.

has a manual rotating wheel on it. (so you can turn it all by hand at times.)

I think the only things are that 1 gear needs to be rebrazed and you need to figure out the wiring for your application.

$700 in sacramento. I just bought it and now I'm moving to a shop where there already is one. I just want my money back out of it. It was at ventana bikes in rancho cordova in service when I picked it up.

First person that says "pics" doesn't get this smokin deal. If you want it, you come w/ a trailer or big truck and cash to my old shop in sacramento and I'll load it up for you. Fuel is cheap enough to afford the drive.

I know a guy looking. Do you know what brand and does it come with any tooling?

I'll poke my head in there and see what it says. there is no tooling. all the holders, slides, jaws or whatever are on it though. It's stuffed away in the warehouse next to my old shop... so it'll be monday morn before I know.

Sight unseen, I find it hard to believe that a 12-14' old lathe weighs only 2500 pounds. Once you post up the manufacturer and model # it should be easy to determine.

glad you're in GA and won't be buying it... so guess it doesn't matter.

Could weigh more, could weigh less. that's what it felt like on the forklift and trailer.

pics are a pain in the ass because of it's location. I had some and the computer they are on is destroyed w/ a sledge hammer. If someone wants to come crawl around and look at it, fantastic. If you show up w/ money I'll dig it out of the warehouse.

Ex grand old humbug dead salmon guy... I'll make you a special brother deal if you want it.

ever sold anything on here? When 15 people per ad from 3k miles away, working on nothing more than a geo metro, beg for pics and make you jump through hoops just for the shit of it when there is no real intention of purchase... you'd feel the same way.

If you'd rather have pics than to come down from cameron park and examine it yourself w/ cash and a trailer in tow, then so be it. I don't want to give the visual stimulation/justice to the tire kickers running rampid on this site. I will only do such a thing for someone serious enough to come prepared.

I like to weed out the tire kickers from the get go.

while i agree with you thoughts...anyone who might consider a road trip is not going to just drive to your shop with out seeing a picture or at least knowing who is it made by....i think it would be in your benefit to get a little info on it

yep.... if could fully see the circumstances I'm working with you'd be on the same page. I can make more money working, than I can digging it out, snapping shots, putting it back...etc.

I'm sure I'll end up selling it to someone who knows me, is local-ish, and understands that my word is good as gold.

I will get the mfg today. Maybe I'll take a pic of the obstacle course I have to climb over to get to it at least.

Sounds exactly like what I want, just not in the cards for me right now. Here's a bump for you. Sounds like a good deal for someone that's serious about buying one.

That sounds like a Post War behemoth.

Flannigan Machine was probably the owner of the lathe, not the manufacturer.

Bump again.

that sounds about right.... it came to me from Ventana bike shop and they used it for years... who knows the trail before that.

That was the only tag I could get to w/ out extensive relocation of other people's stuff.

If nothing else it will be easily available in april when the warehouse gets moved. I'd like to get it sold before that so it doesn't disappear though.

Like rugburn said, Flannigan is most likely not the brand name. The weight is probably closer to double your estimate if not more, depending on what swing size it is. I just bought an old 16" swing Reed Prentice that has a 36" bed and it tips the scales at 3850 lbs.

Good luck on the sale. If you took just a few minutes to get even a shitty picture and info off of the machine, it would probably sell in a day or two. Post it up in the for sale section on www.practicalmachinist.com and it will sell.

it's proving to be more difficult to get pics.

I'm probably just going to take it out of there one day and bring it to the new shop. This thing is 30 mins away from where I am now every day and now I have to bring my own forklift to get at it. So it'll be a bit.

Well I wasn't asking for pics or interested in buying it as I have a lathe already. I thought (as do a lot others) that you'd have more luck with a better description.
