The problem with the regular long hole saws (like jmr's) is that they don't last any longer than a regular hole saw and they were double the cost. I heard they were buckling under load cause the walls weren't thick enough or just too long. There are lots of ways to notch tube though. Seems you either pay for a machine, or gobble up labor, abrasives, and/or hole saws. For vertical holes in plate or tube, these things are kicking-ace. One of my fire sprinkler fabricators stopped counting after drilling 350+ holes in .125 wall pipe..vertically in a press. |

Tom I finally got to use my 9/16" hole cutter and WOW!!!!! I feel like an idiot for not buying one sooner. This will literally save me hours per week compared to using regular hole saws. And it is easier on my drill press since it doesn't seem to "catch" so easily. Thanks for the recommendation!!!!

Thanks Dj. I have to admit these are not for every application where you would use a hole saw of large drill bit. But they do have an extremely long life and make really nice holes.

I think mine has finally gotten dull. I would estimate it did 200 holes, maybe more, in 3/8" and 1/2" material only. The pilot bit itself is still sharp, but the cutter isn't going through like it did before. Time to order another!

Just purchased another one of these cutters in the 1 3/4" flavor. I have already purchased 4 in different sizes a few months ago and they work great. Since I now have 5 I was wanting to buy a case too but I didn't see just the case listed on your website.
