Drawing inlines and outlines?

This is probably a really simple question but I'm beating my head against the wall right now.

I've drawn a shape that is a series of arcs creating the outline of a shield. I need to create the exact same shape twice for a border inset the same amount all the way around. I thought I could just scale it down xx% and it would match. Most of it appears to be fairly close but it doesn't run true with the original lines. One of the manuals talks about the Transform menu and an outline command but I do not have an outline command.

Any help?

The Torchmate CAD software does not have the outline feature available, so we have to do it another way. Essentially we are looking to offset a line a certain amount one direction or the other. The easiest way to do this is actually to create a Female or Male toolpath with the radius of your tool how much you want the line offset. Then create the toolpath with no lead-ins or lead-outs and the line will be drawn offset of the selected object.

Once the toolpath was on the screen, select it and do an Arrange - Make Path to convert it from a toolpath into a standard object.

Thanks Mike. In the back of my head I was thinking that very same thing but really thought there had to be a more standard or built in way to do it. Was that one of the parts of the software that was trimmed when converting it to Torchmate CAD?

Yes. That is available in the Torchmate CAD Pro version, which we really don't push to hard at this point because there are work arounds for most things. Basically, the Pro version has every bell and whistle turned on. We give you the complete book so if there is something you see that you want, it can be turned on with the full version. Again, it is pretty rare for folks doing plasma cutting.
