any testing done, or anyone else using a torchmate with a miller spectrum 625?

Yes, that is what I use. It is the older style, about 5 years old. It has the ICE-40 torch. You hook up the violet and orange wires to start the torch.

Here is my reply from Miller

John,

Thanks for your inquiry. You are spot on with the violet trigger wire being the start wire. When we trigger the torch all we do is short this violet wire to the orange wire and the cut will begin as long as that contact is held. Once that contact breaks the arc will go out.
