Plasma start wires

Can anyone tell me how to hook up the start wire to my plasma cutter? I have the 2x2 machine and a Hobart airforce700.

Ok I figured it out. Opened the case and the hand torch. Decided it would be easier to tap into the torch. Thanks for the reply.

I have spliced into the handle on several machines, and it works very well. Take apart the handle and there will be two wires going to the trigger switch (usually there is a small spring that will shoot out that goes to the safety on the trigger so watch out) Look at the body of the handle and see where the best place to cut and make a splice would be. Getting butt connectors in there can be a chore so I prefer soldering and then wrapping it with silicone tape. If you are going to use the torch by hand also you will want to put some sort of a quick connect on the lead that is now coming out of the back of your hand torch. This way you can simply unplug your lead that goes to the control box, pull your had torch out of the holder, and your ready to use it like normal. Those Velcro cable ties work great for securing the new trigger wire to the hand torch lead so there easy to take on and off when you want to use it by hand. Hope this helps...

I was working on the wires for my miller 375 and found that the two purple wires that go to the trigger can not be grounded to the case last night. I was going to use a 1/4" mono instrument jack on the back of the case but it grounds itself and the torch will not come on that way. Time to go to a 1/4" stereo (TRS jack) and get moving on my table.
