Aluminum frame water table?
Was wondering if there would be any drawbacks to using aluminum as a frame for my water table. I’m thinking of making one, kinda like “jeepsRcool”. The outside frame and legs would be 4X4X1/16 square tubing. Along the inside would be aluminum angle 3X2x1/4 with 1” slots along the 3” side for the mild steel flat bar and the 2” part as the bottom. I was going to rtv in a sheet of mild for the bottom. The entire cutting surface would still be steel. Thoughts?

As long as it's strong enough and the aluminum won't ever be cut by the plasma I don't see any reason why not, the corrosion resistance is a bonus. If you have the aluminum and the ability to fabricate with it is the only reason I'd see doing one this way instead of welding up a mild steel one though.

supplies to make a 6x2 table with a indexable 4x2 cutting area will run about 450-500, does that seem bad? seems like the mild would be about the same price. thanks for the input.
