Why are they raising the Prices? i think this will put the price out of reach for a lot of people..... what a shame. so 3k for the 2x2 table +a plasma cutter and + 250 shipping.... the "hobby" model is now $4000+

The problem is that we can't take all the phone calls. The plan from the very beginning was to have distributors sell the machine for us.

Definitely glad I got in when I did - even though have yet to find the time to get it running. I understand the distributor angle, but that is quite a jump.

Yes, Torchmate has been telling us about increasing the price , I figured it would be $ 500.00.

haha, yes i am.

Good marketing ploy, I have been putting off ordering the 2x2 for months now, and your email this morning kicked my ass in gear, as i would not pay 3k for it,

at that point i would buy a used 4x4 for 5k or so.

Cant wait for it to get here, andy said it would be about 2 weeks or so.
Its been a pricey 10 days for me.

Got the 2x2 TM , a 42 ton Press shear uni-hydro ironworker, miller 252 welder, miller 875 spectrum welder, 2 post car lift, 2 ton over head gantry crane, and a jd3 bender.

Now i am all setup!!

I really want one but no position to buy one for at least a year.
But at $3K there is no way I can justify it. Sorry.

Better off ousourcing the few parts I need to cut I just figure if I had it I would find things to use it for.

Hopefully I you'll have a sale at some point or I'll keep an eye out for a used one.

In time all will become clear. All we are saying at this point is that we will continue to offer the 2x2 directly to the general public at the $2,995 price after September. That does not mean that you won't be able to get it for less through one of our distributors in the near future. As the distributor network rounds out, we will no longer sell them direct at all. We have to get from point A to point B though. The idea here is to reward the behavior we want, which is to not buy it directly through us. We will still be your source for support no matter which Torchmate machine you buy. Make more sense?

That makes sense - the bit about rewarding behavior. It is costing you more than it is worth (to you) to sell them direct and you can put your team to better use by using distributors.

But it also means that a third of the cost goes to the distributor. Granted, they have costs too but it still seems like a lot.

I am fairly curious to see who will be carrying them.

Me too!

Seriously, I am really glad that we have been able to put hundreds and hundreds of these machines in people's hands at that $1995 price. I wish I could do it forever. I was not sure what the popularity of this little machine was going to be, so we kept our options open. It is clear that the popularity goes beyond my level of expertise in sales and distribution. I need help. Unfortunately, the only way to get that help is to make it worth someone else's while to deal with it. If we keep doing it the way we are, then we will sell thousands. If we get really aggressive about getting the word out, we will sell tens of thousands. I want to put this thing in millions of people's hands.

Are there any dealers in Canada? I am disappointed that I missed out on the $2000 deal. I would buy one right now for $2000, but at $3000 I don't think I can justify it.

Seems like a bad decision, i would rather sell it at a lower price and have more machines out there to fix and make money on parts then to take a 50% hit in sales and further lose parts sales.

If you pay attention, you'll see that they are still having a hard time keeping up with demand at the higher price.

Definitely not a mistake. This whole thing has been a monumental undertaking. I could not be happier with the way things have gone. Multiple distributors have begun selling the Torchmate 2x2 which we will announce as they become a little more comfortable. 2010 has been a great year for this product. I am really excited to see what 2011 brings.
