Technically in this case they're being conservative and you're being liberal. lib·er·al/ˈlib(ə)rəl/ Adjective: Open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values. Noun: A person of liberal views. Synonyms: generous - bounteous - lavish - bountiful - free See what I mean? Anyway I like the truss but as others have said it doesnt really do much for that axle(not that I know personally, just from what I've read up on them) however its always nice to practice so I say have at her.

You make some decent-looking welds. I'd have saved the flap wheel effort and just wire-wheeled the welds and painted it!
Looks nice all cleaned up, though. It's your truck and your money--truss away!

I did one off the housing and it warped the everliving shit out of it! Took a lot of grinding to get it flat again.

Most places machine the diff cover mounting surface flat after they weld them, but they also run thick material around the bolt pattern section which gives the axle more strength. The way he built it the mounting surface may still have some give in it and allow it to seal properly.

I have made 4 of them with zero problems. It is thin enough that the bolts will pull it straight.
Ran the grinder for hours today. Cleaned up the new leafs, got larger center bolts. ![]() ![]() Welded my axle tubes. ![]()

fuck that, I must be getting old. I likes my air ride.
also, it looks like the second leaf stops short of the main leaf eyes, concerned about bending/cracking the main leaf with the ends hanging out like that and such a stiff pack underneath? BTDT, had two main leaves bent on my jeep because of it.

So is the idea that it gets read by people you've run over? Or that it leaves a stamp if you reverse into some thing low? In which case it should probably be 'written' backwards so whatever you reverse into reads the right way round.
