What do you tow with?

Just curious.

Please indicate model and engine type. I couldn't include more options (sorry ChiefSlapAHo), but feel free to write in a vote.

Edit: I did include Jeep, didn't I?

Bryan

How does this tow?? My brother has a 1981 Class C with the same drivetrain. He is looking to get a new one in a year or so. This one only has about 41,000 miles on it. His is a honey.

Also, what is your average temp on the highway? He is at 210 with the AC off. This is in texas heat also.

I've put 6000 miles plus on it this summer, including long 6% grades in Tennessee (May) and 105+ degree dry heat in South Dakota (July). Hottest tranny temp was 230 in SD for a VERY short time, 2 mile 10% grade coming out of Rapid City to the campground. All highway time (75 mph), the tranny never ran over 210, usually in the 190-200 range. Engine temps generally sit with the needle straight up or slightly above, no "true" gauge in there tho. Oil pressure always runs 1/2 to 2/3 on the gauge.

I run dual external trans coolers with the in-radiator one. The AC doesn't work, so not sure how that will effect everything. We have run with the generator going and the roof air on tho

Fully loaded for a trip, 18,000#. PHAT. Use a weight dist hitch, add a rear sway bar or airbags, and go for it. Mine will be making a 1400 mile trip to Moab in May... I run Equal in the front tires, it does 85 no problem, but it's most comfortable in the 70-75 range.

Mileage full loaded is in the low 7's. VERY acceptable IMO.

That looks exactly like my brothers except he's got a kick ass color scheme. Where the single brown stripe is on your he has tan, brown, yellow, and orange!!!! We just got done putting in a new 4 core radiator and new tranny cooler lines. Tonight we are pulling of the exaust manifolds to try to fix an exhaust leak.

The AC doesn't work in his either. Cracks me up though, it has a york compressor. Makes me want to OBA the RV..... I need help

Drivers side? Mine leads like a bastard....and has for 4 years!! I've got one bolt busted on the manifold already, so planning to pull the motor entirely, pull both manifolds, and drop in some Thorley's and copper gaskets. $500 for parts, but outta quiet it down a ton plus boost the power a tad....

Let me know how your manifold project goes...and don't say I didn't warn you!!!

Checked Chevy Gas, but it's actually a 2002 GMC 2500HD, 6.0. Looking back, if I could do it different, I would NOT. Very happy with this combo.

2003 Ford F-250 Lariat. V10 6 speed, 4:30 gears. Its a towing machine. I get around 9 mpg towing and can pull the big hill going to paragon at 70 mph with the AC blasting. I dont drive enough to warrant the diesel.

'90 Ford 27' Travel Master motor home
460 F.I.
30,000 miles

Flat towing 98 TJ and it does fine.

Came from Colorado, gone through S.D., Montana, Wyo, Idaho and averaged 10 mpg with a.c. going. No mods or leaks present.

It is for sale, if interested!

'03 Chevy 2500HD, CC SB, 6.0L auto, 4x4, 4.10 gears.

Haven't actually got to tow with it yet, but based on the engine and braking performance with it empty it should do much better than my old '01 Dodge Ram 1500

I don't tow enough to justify the $5K diesel upgrade, plus I actually like the gasser for empty daily driving. Currently getting about 15-16 mpg.
