Car Dolly Q:

I was thinking of building a car dolly for my toya. Money's hard to come by. Plus my pull truck is a 1/2 dodge on 37 mtrs. it can pull what ever i want it to. i mine like it has the power to. But the springs wont hold up. it walks all over the road. i was thinking of building a car dolly to pull it around. that way the weight is on the dolly not on the truck. i have a spare set of tires and rims so i dont wear my swampers out. from the miles . i think i will build the dolly to have brake on it to help the stop it. What do yall think. Any one tride this before .

not a bad idea if you have onboard air for swapping out tires. you don't want to have brakes on the dolly however when engaging brakes on the dolly you cause your rig to jackknife if you hit them too hard since to correctly dolly you have the steering such that is will allow the front tires to turn making turning much easier but your biggest headache will be dealing with changing tires, driveshaft dropping and then you have to see if where you live requires you to have the vehichles brake lights come on or other tow lights or ifyou can just get by with lights on the fenders of your dolly

I think shooting my self in the foot is going to make it hard to change the tires.
Second changing the tire no problem. No need for air just a good old four way. with a little weight on the end one good swing and its tite. thanks for the brake problem. Mite not put on the brakes. I still think the car dolly will work. Plus if it gets me to the trail. Will that means i got to the trail and can wheel.
