Halo's first dabble with a dodge

Well, I thought I'd never say it, but I own a dodge now

Bought a 2015 2500 4x4 laramie.
I'll be messing around with it and photo logging it, along with doing reviews on the stuff I put on it or modify.

It's main duties will be used commuting to work, pulling cars/dragging engines to the machine shop, taking loads of scrap to the recyclers- but it also will be the dog chauffeur, mild wheeler and get drug down to the ranch for shooting pigs.
Is it going to get abused like KOH pit trucks? no.
Will I use it? sure will.
I'll wheel it mildly, and try to make mods that are usable.

Bought it with 2 miles on it, and so far I'm waiting for the oils/gunk to melt off/stop burning.

The main things that bug the ever living crap out of me are the mirrors.
Unless they are in tow/bro mode, the convex mirror is useless- and I normally drive in those mirrors. I'm having to learn to re-use them in collapsed/non-bro mode and its difficult to readjust.

Secondly, the automatic rain sensor seems incredibly sporadic. Maybe some manipulation will make it work better, but I've turned it off for normal wipers due to the random wipe/freakout monsoon style wipe/back to random wipe.

The power pedals don't go far enough forward. I could see a tall person having their knees stuffed in the wheel.

So, in any case my F250 is in the back of the shop sulking he just got kicked out of the corral lol

I hear ya on the mirrors. My dodge used to always have a trailer behind it so the mirrors where always flipped out. When I got a new truck to work out of (Chevy), my dodge turned into my cruiser weekend truck. I just flipped my mirrors in for the first time in a few years and holy crap, I feel like I'm gonna run over someone when I merge into traffic!! I hate them flipped in but also hate to look like a flat biller with them flipped out and no trailer.

I couldnt stand to have them flipped out unless I was towing a gooseneck. With my 18ft car trailer I just left them flipped in.

Did you get a mega cab or crew cab? We want pics damnit!

I told you had to do it in your other thread. Black wheels and mirrors In bro mode and you are set. Nothing else to do but put a big C on the back window.

Hope it's a good truck to you. Dodges seem to be a love hate thing. Especially for me. I've had a 97, 02, 05 and had an 07.5, 09 and a 12' on the ranch. ALL of them always had little shit going on with them. Especially the 09 and 12. Nothing ever terrible but just a constant upkeep. Switches, chasing elec gremlins, leaks ect.... I will say that none of them ever left us stranded and earned their money. I'd take the 97 back. The 12 was probably the worst. I can't ever remember the dash not being lit up like a Xmas tree. Lol.

Ditto.

My Dodge is basically a tow vehicle only. I drive a car daily and truck sits waiting for work duty. Been this way since about 2008.

Since I basically ONLY tow with the truck, I'm just used to the mirrors in the tall/narrow/upright orientation. They simply work better - more natural shape for the area you're trying to view.

I'm never flipping mine back.

Transmission feels ok. It shifts pretty well/firm, doesn't hunt for a gear. Its a little rough coming out of drive into neutral going to reverse it seems. Truck seems to unload. I think the shifter needs either a button to go into manual mode, or the +/- buttons need more refinement. you push the button- nothing happens. you dick around with them, and it finally will let you select a gear. Then, when you don't want it to be in manual mode, there isnt a way to get out of it other than shifting to neutral back to drive.... or letting it time out and bog a gear or whatever. Kind of silly.

mirrors:
Its stupid. Why not make them extend like the F250's do

I'm about to just run them flipped up, cause its really nerve racking trying to get the feel of a new truck and feeling unsure of your surroundings because of the disorientating feeling of the mirrors.

I found a company that hacks the 8.4 nav screen and lets you do other things, like adding cameras, adding applications, watching TV and movies on it, etc.etc.

your 03 still has the square convex mirror, right?

These have rectangle convex mirrors, and are up/down when folded in. STUPID DESIGN
