Anyone lookin for a tractor?

Word around the budweiser distributor is that they may be downsizing their fleet soon.

Should have 2-3 or more rigs fairly cheap.

anyone in the market, let me know and I'll kepp you informed. Should be same rigs as mine.

So what is involved with someone getting one of those for personal use only?

buy it.

reg and insure it

get a class A.

Depending on what kind of weight you are towing with it you might be able to get away with just an air brakes cert. The cdl is an easy test, and its worth getting IMHO just to be on the safe side of a bitchy DOT officer.

edit: also (in NM at least) you can reg and ins. it as a RV as long as it has a toilet and bedding on board. We were lookin at mounting a fold under toilet seat to the side of the bed and throwing a sleeping bag in a storage box to get away with it.

I'm guessing under $4000. Time will tell though.

What are the specs on that rig. (motor, tranny, mileage, age) I may be looking for a couple of them if they are the right price.

Dude, you just got a Dodge CTD, whats cheaper fixing that up a little or getting a 6-8mpg guzzler of a rig that could pass anything on any pass with what you would use it for. LOL

always thinking ahead my friend... always thinking ahead...

I will eventually move up to some kind of motorhome, as the wife and I have plans to do some traveling with the kids when they get a few years older (and can actually enjoy it). That being said, might as well get something that I can drag a trail rig (or trailer full of quads, etc.) around with and not be worrying about overloading it.

But basically - just inquiring because information is like a drug... I always want more

What displacement of diesel do they come with, and international engine right?

I have seen some of those with a "428" badge on the grille, so is that one gas?

It would be sweet to have one of those for a tow rig.

Arond here that would be a little pricey...I know with those kinds of miles (566K) you can go get a newer (99+) for around the same price...between 20K-30K...they are lease returns that the companies have ran for a year or two...

A lot of these Fords will have either a 250 Cummins, or an 8.3 Brazilian Ford engine. The Gas ones should be a 429, not 428.

I know ours (in the picture above) has a cummins 300 in it. 6 speed tranny, in BAAAD need of an exhaust brake.

Top speed is sittin @ 63mph. Lookin for a new set of wheels/tires to try and get up in the 70-75mph range.

never had any problem pullin the rigs though, just takes a few more minutes to get there.

Sceep - the problem seems to be that although you can tow 3 rigs, you stoll gota have some other vehicle driving along too so you can hold all of the people.

When I get ready to haul more than one rig, I need to be able to haul the people associated with those rigs too...

hehe.. yeah its a PITA sometimes. but most of the time we can use an additional car around to shuttle to and from dinner/groceries/showers etc.

We are trying to get another truck right now that has a blown motor. Plans are to french the two cabs together for a 4door cab. should be able to seat 5 comfortably then, just going to loose some bed space.

its an ordeal if you dont have a vehicle with more than 110" WB. any shorter than that then the front tires end up sitting up on the ramps and you have to jack it up to get the ramps up/down. The cherokee is just the right length to drive up, chain down, remove ramps.

How good are the Brazilian diesels supposed to be?

Its been awhile since I seen one those 429 Fords at the lumberyard.

sceep, you can take that to a cummins dealer and they can turn the governer up a little higher. Thats what we did with mine with a 325 cat. It is now set at about 2150rpms and will do 80-85mph.
