Need help with a 12v CTD thermostat ASAP!

Well, found out my heat/temp problem was that the rubber shroud on the thermostat was half sucked down inside it and was therefore never closing.

That is the good news - the bad news is the autozone t-stat is the WRONG ONE

Advance Auto Parts says they can get me one by tomorrow, am gonna check the dealership in the morning too...

Someone wanna talk me out of a parts store replacement t-stat in favor of a dealership or Cummins one? Is there some reason I should avoid a parts store one?

Thanks

You might try reading this thread over on the DTR site. It's in the 24v forum, but some of the info might apply to you undervalved folks as well.

Funny, I did search, but didn't remember seeing it in my own thread, so I didn't looked in there again

Well - Dealer down the street from work - nope.

Called the local diesel shop in the town on the OTHER side of where I live (from where I work) and they have it in stock - $20 and some change for the stat and gaskets... Now I just gotta get there before they close @ 5:30

Dealer wanted $30, and she said they used to be higher than that.

Dodge dealer or Cummins dealer? I've found that the Cummins dealer prices are a bit lower than the Dodge dealers.

Dodge dealerships - the only Cummins dealer I found were a bunch of JERKS and I will never be visiting them again.

Wife picked it up for me - ain't she sweet?

Can't wait to install it to night and see what improvements are made. Maybe at least I won't FREEZE on the way to work in the morning...

installed - and temp gauge is now working , as is cab heat

Hopefully economy will improve since the engine is actually coming up to normal operating temps now...
