12V 2500+Airbags+3200lb camper+Trailer=?

Here is what I am considering for the tow rig and trailer next year:

Rig: Dodge 12V CTD Reg Cab/Longbox 2500 5 speed/cold air/#8 plate/4" Exhust (8800 GVW, +Firestone Airbags, 275 LR "E" tires. (6500 lbs with fuel, two passengers)

Camper: 9.5 ft Arctic Fox, 3200 lbs medium wet, likely ~3600 lbs full

Trailer: 16ft, 2000 lb trailer (9900 lbs gvw)
Buggy: 4000 lbs with tools/spares/fluids etc..

Other: Torquelift tieddowns, stock receiver/10,000 weight distributing hitch/2 5/16 ball.

So:

Truck and Camper+people: ~10,100 (remember GVWR is 8800)
tongue weight: est 600 lbs.
Trailer+ Buggy+ misc: 6000 lbs

GCVW is only 16,000 (well within specs) but the truck is about ~1900 lbs over GVWR (with est 600 lbs tongue weight from the trailer).

The trailer is well under GVWR.

So... anyone have any gotchas or serious problems with this setup...

Tim, as black and white as most people will make this sound, I'm going with it depends. If its just to Waiprous, Sundry, Mclean, Ft Mcleod, Crowsnest, wherever I would say go for it. You will never be weighed in Alberta and in a wreck they probably still won't hit you like the stories you read down here. Obviously driving sane, having e rated tires, good brakes/shocks whatever are all part of it. Personally the Forestry Trunk Road scares me, with any trailer, but I suppose if you travel at decent speeds its probably fine. Lots of people, even commerical tow way overloaded around Calgary, and I can't recall ever hearing of a major lawsuit. Also, I believe there you're GVWR is dependant on your tires, just like a big truck, so you can actually get your legal GVWR increased on the pickup if you so desire. Check into that.

Now, if you want to come down to Moab, Rubicon, all that fun stuff, I would recommend leaving the camper at home. Too many sue happy people here. Also, it is nice having a dually for the highspeeds with a camper, believe it or not I have seen far more rigs on their side on I-80 then 2 or 22.

Also being overloaded is going to be hard on wheel bearings, and ball joints on that Dana 60, not a big deal but they are a high wear item with CTD Rams.

Just my $0.02, from my experiences there and here.

I recind the question.

However, after posting I phoned our local transport office, and there is no legislation limiting payload other than tire rating in our province. So, as RAMV says, i'm fine locally.

I have a very similar setup, same truck, same trailer and buggy weight, but I have a lance 8' that is only about 2300 lbs. You will need good shocks, I got edelbrock IAS, a rear sway bar and air bags. I havent towed much with everything yet, but it is quite a load, I towed it all when I first got the camper without the shocks, air bags and sway bar and it was pretty scary, but I feel confident with the set up now, but you just have to take it easy.

I have an older Lance 800, and I wouldn't pull it and a trailer without a dually. That's asking for it IMO. I used the single hitch extender one time, and that's it, never again. Maybe look into a gooseneck/redneck hauler trailer like Thumps if you already have the camper.
