Anyone have/built an aluminum trailer? - Pirate4x4.Com : 4x4 and Off-Road Forum

Not planning on doing this anytime soon, have to finish the rig first, but has anyone built an aluminum trailer? I won't have a diesel or anything more than a 1/2 ton for a while, and I feel like a considerable amount of the weight in towing a rig is in the trailer. Therefore, I was wondering if one could make the trailer out of aluminum in such a way as to save significant weight.

I have the means and ability to weld the aluminum, so that would not be a limiting factor.

Did a brief google search and a brief search on here and didn't turn up anything. Anyone seen blueprints for aluminum instead of steel?

Search harder on here, there was someone posting pics maybe 6 months ago, IIRC they were towing a 4runner on an Al trailer behind another Toyota (like a Tundra or one of the bigger SUV's).
