Which Stanadyne additive to use?
I was going to start using Stanadyne additive in my 1990 CTD and 1990 6.2L GM (and 1964 Ford 4000 diesel tractor) with the new ULSD fuel.
Should I run the Performance Formula or the Lubricity formula? The Lubricity is half as expensive (1 pint treats twice as many gallons) and they say contains 5 times the lubricity additives, but the Performance formula has a Cetane booster, which Lubricity does not have. |

I use the Power Service gray in mine as well. Does seem to help mileage a bit too. I also put some Marvel Mystery Oil in every other tank or every third tank.

From what I have read, Most people are using the performance fomula.
if you go out to Stanadyne site they have a side by side comparsion of the two. I think they are both the same except the performance fomula has the cetane additive.. Personally I am using powerservice in the gray bottle, ITs the only one I can find locally.

I agree - I can find Power Service locally, but not Stanadyne. I just kept hearing people say Stanadyne is the best, so I was going to mail order a case of it from Diesel Injection Service.
I saw the comparison that shows what is in Lubricity vs. Performance. Performance has everything Lubricity does, plus Cetane booster and a couple other things, but Lubricity has more of the lubricity additive. I guess my main question is - do I need the extra lubricity of Lubricity?

I have only used straight Acetone in my CTD. I don't use it all the time but it cuts down on smoke. It's really hard to tell if it does much, but it doesn't hurt, and Acetone is what the main ingrediance (sp?) is in most additives. I mix it at 1 ounce per 10 gallons...NO MORE!
So, how do you spell ingrediance? lol |
