towing capacity of chevy 2500?

Any idea what a 1994 chevy 4x4 2500 long bed std cab with a 6.5L diesel could resonably tow?

or better yet does anyone know the exact capacity?

and is there a way to easily increase capacity?
like what all goes into figuring out the "rated max capacity"?

There should be GVWR stickers on the inside of your door frames or on your doors or under the hood above the radiator vailance. If nobody here knows you could ask on www.fullsizechevy.com .

if you have the owners manual it should tell you.

Is it a Light duty 2500 or the eight lug 2500
manual or automatic?
Gear ratio?

you could ask at the diesel place the 6.5 guys would know

It is an automatic, i will check for you on the number of lugs. does the light duty have 6 lug? is there any other way to tell LD/HD?
is there an easy way to figure out gear ratio? would it say somewhere?

I am contemplating buying this vehicle, as my tow-rig... and just want to make sure it will suit my needs.

anything else i should look for or ask about?
