FW axles & trailers?
Hey you guys with full width axles, do you trailer and if so how wide between the wheel wells? I'm looking to get a new trailer, and so far 81" is the widest I can find between the wheels (ie without getting a deck over the wheels)

Bryan my single car hauler is 84" between the wheelwells. My front axle is 65.5" WMS to WMS and the rear is 63.5". I have about 3" on each side to spare when loading. I'm running 38.5/12.50 TSL SX's on a 15x 10 wheel. Can't remember what the backspacing is though.

For those of you looking for solutions for full width axles there are some options. I wish that I had a picture of my trailer the deck is 96" wide for easy towing in tight places but instead of "fenders" the deck ramps up over and back down over the tires. This keeps Yeller down out of the wind but I don't have an overly wide trailer. You can kind of make it out from this picture its the one all of the way to the left, and yes thats what the train looked like going to Moab this year!Trailers

I'd thought about builing a ramp or something and then affixing it to the floor which would have the same overall shape as the wheel wells. The trailer I'm looking at looks like the fenders are strong enough to drive on, but I'm not sure I'd try it. Could always go deckover, but it's probably additional cost, and the manu. I'm looking at didn't make one with a suitable axle rating. (I'm not looking to swap axles on a new trailer)

I've been out looking at trailer resently and one problem with driver over fenders is if you have tires big enough to need them and the diameter of the tires is too big say 44"s and the wheelbase is to short then the fender may not fit between the tires front to back. I mean either the front tires or rear tires may be on top of the fenders. And if the fenders do fit between the front and rear tires you may not have much choise of where you position the load on the trailer.

The over head camper looking thing is a Renegade toter home. It has a Freightliner FL70 chassis with a 300HP Cat and a 6spd Allison and it is pulling a 36' goose neck. Lets just say it is a towin, livin large, machine. And by the way its for sale
