6spd or Auto

I am having a bitch of a time finding a Ford PS in a 6spd.

I am going to try another dealer, one that is more willing to get my business instead of being an ass.

Should I consider a Auto? those are a dime a dozen.

i had a really hard time finding my 6speed too. The only advice i can give is that if you really want the 6speed keep looking. It's too big a purchase to compromise on what you want. You'll find it eventually. I'd be miserable right now if i had the auto...just don't like autos in daily drivers for whatever reason.

I found a couple of them when i found mine back at the end of June, There was a white extended cab diesel up in red bluff and there where two standard cabs down south that the dealer i worked with country ford in ceres, there was also a couple of crew cabs. You might also try Gallagher Ford in Elko, NV.
If you need any numbers for those places let me know.
I for one would not go with the auto I love my 6spd and i have driven both pulling and prefer the 6spd.

If you could give me the numbers that would be great.

I am going to try my luck at a different dealer and see what they can provide. I found two on the internet in nevada.

Hell if I have to fly to nevada and drive it home I will.

Hold out for the six speed if you are going to pull with it. I've pulled with both the auto sucks driving up or down anything.

Ward doesnt have any either.

Heres the whole story,

Walked into the dealer, they didnt have any, Did a locate, Found five, Made a decision that night, called back the next day all were sold, Did another search found one, Made the decision on the spot, Said they would get rolling, Called later that day, SOLD at hte dealer that had it, Found another one, Again same thing. Yesterday they found one in orgen but the dealer that has it wants a six speed in trade, not going to happen, found another one, which should be here today, SO I am told. This one is an XLT but there willing to put leather in it.

IF this one doesnt pan out I am going to a different dealer and ordering a new truck., IT takes 6 weeks to get here. And I can get all the options I want.

If you are gonna order a truck wait for the new 6.0 powerstroke. Also the new 2003 have a ton of new options that the 2002s didnt get.

Not a big fan of first run motors, I will get the old tired and true PS at least most of the bugs have been worked out of the motor..

I downloaded a list of Options from ford-diesel.com, I am going to search through that and go from there..

TOday is the dead line..

Sounds like quite a pain to find the six speed.

IMO,
6 speed in daily driving =
vroom shift vroom shift vroom shift vroom shift vroom shift vroom shift

cruise along for 30 seconds till you have to stop or slow down again. Then start the vroom shift process over

This is why I didn't want a manual.

Unless there is tranny failure I dont see why to even use a manual. It is an age old debate but the convenience and reliability of the auto is nice. It is a total personal prefference.

I got the 6spd and know how you feel, even my wife loves manual trannys. Anyway have you tried Fallon Auto Mall? Thats where I got mine and they buy trucks for the farmers and ranchers, so they know how to order trucks. Also in town you only have to use first, third and sixth. That motor puts out more than enough power to only need the three gears in town.
