Tires
OK, I need tires BADLY on my Dodge. What do you run? I would like something close to a 33 for 16x8 rims. Thinkin BFG A/T's but I am wonderin what you guys run. I need a good street tire that can handle abusive dirt roads. I drive 150 miles a day so longevity is important too. And of course, I am poor cause I am married so I need a sweet deal
Any advice?

My PSD had Schwabbie (les schwab) tires on it when I got it. They had over 50K on them. They were the "mudder" metric 33" tires on the stock rims. Really loud tires that pulled to one side (I rotated the tires and they pulled to the other side then...one tire was not as tall as the others cause the tread was the same depth on them all.
Anyway, cost for 4 was about $750! Ouch! Instead I got some all terrain style tires (cooper durangos) for about $450 which are nice and quiet and will work better on wet and/or slippery roads. |

Toyo makes a M55, (really tough tire that wears like iron) but only in 235x85R16. They have an extra belt that helps agains rock flats. They just came out with an AT in 265x75R16 which is a 32x10.5 roughly. I don't know how the new AT's wear, but if it's anything like the M55, they are worth a look.

A 235x85x16 will measure out at 30.5 to 31.0" Thats just a tad under what a 33x12.5x15 will mearsure at. Try a 255x85x16, I hear those measure at about 33" which is more like a true 35" radial. Plus the 255 will be about 10.5 to 11.0" wide.

Hmmmm, I have 270 75 16r's now and they are fawkin tiny on my truck. I need BIGGER
These measure about 31 or so, so i figured I could get 33 (actualy height) on there no problem without rubbing. I considered a 35ish but I think I will need a leveler kit for that.

I have 285 75 16's Buckshot Maxxis Mudders on my 2500 with 8" rims and they measure a little better than 32, they are quiet on the road, and they seem to be wearing very good so far. I have about 20K on them now and they still look fairly new.

I'd go with Cooper Discoverer LT's. Not a very aggressive tread, but the Cooper guys recommend them over the AT's if you do a lot of gravel driving, and they wear like nails. Price is right too. TEX

I've been running 285/75R16 Trxus MT's on the rear of my 2wd F-250 since last fall. They kick ass in the snow and seem to be wearing ok. I've got about 8K miles on them and still well over 80% tread left.
