spicer two speed rear end

how do the get stuck between gears??? like in neutral ..

here what i got, 1990 gmc boom truck , single axle spicer 2 speed rear , 25000 gvw , v-8 cat w/ 5 speed

rollin thru town yesterday , on and off the gas , then it just wouldn't go.... i thought i lost a drive shaft , but it was still there and would just spin.

. i thought maybe an axle shaft broke so i got one of the other shop trucks to pull me back to camp.

well within the first couple feet of getting pulled it popped into low ( in the rear end) and i was able to drive back on my own. i shifted in between high and low a couple times and i noticed once it took a long time to catch in low range but worked..

think maybe it's in the electric shift motor? got any web sites with good info can't find any breakdown on how they work thru google. thanks

i have had the shift motors go out befor, it was worn out and jambed half way, then wouldnt return.

i had to revmove the motor, shift to high, move the tang by hand, move the axle tang by hand, re-install motor, duct tape shifter in high so i didnt popit back again.

are you shifting it the correct way? often times 2 speeds dont work right if you use the clutch..

i would guess the shift motor is not moving all the way , i did find a dana web page with the teardown and rebuilding of the shift motor
http://www2.dana.com/pdf/AXSM-0029.pdf

pulll the motor off and see if you can move the lever mechanically to inshure no broken internal parts.
then see if the motor moves when you shift the button with it hanging by the wires...........
