Thinking about purchasing a new truck

Right now the deals out there are pretty good.

A friend just pick up a fully loaded chevy 08 2500 diesel for 39k out the door. MSRP(52k+)

I just got a quote for a fairly well loaded 09 mega cab for 39k +Tax/Title/License. MSRP 52k+)

I would probably have gone with the chevy but the rebates have gone away and there are no more 08's left.

Not really considering a Ford as I currently have a 05 F150 Super Crew and it has its share of electrical problems. Be in the dealer several times and only has 33k on it.

Also, would you pick a manufacture based on that fact the GM is probably going to go bankrupt soon?

Thanks,
Mike

Yep, wouldn't even consider a new chevy or dodge. Get a used on or a Ford. My 07 F350 has been great. Paid 18k for it over 6 months ago with 25,000 miles on it. 4x4 crewcab diesel.

You must be one of the few who hasnt had serious problems with the diesel. Everyone i have spoke to around here love the trucks but hate the diesel and are trading in for either GM/Dodge diesels or are sticking with the Ford but with a V-10 gasser.

GM and Dodge closing their doors? Hmmmm, Dodge maybe but i doubt GM will. I stopped at the local Dodge dealer where i used to work and they claim sales are way up, especially in the last 3-4 months. The GM dealer i used to work at claim sales are slow but steady. Who knows, im not worried about it and i wouldnt let their possible future deter a purchase. Regardless what happens someone has to honor that warranty.

The 6.4 didn't come out until 08 for the ford...not that the 6.0 has a much better rep.

This is all coming from a guy who's polishing the turd of the diesel world though, so take that as it is

No kidding, stay as far away from an 07 and newer as you can. There are so many nice used deals out there that buying new just doesn't make sense to me.
