I know it's not really a "tow rig" but we just picked up our motorhome last night and wanted some advice.

During the walk0through the guy said that every time I fill up I have to turn off the fridge and waterheater, then close the valve on the propane tank. Do any of you really do this, or are they just saying that for liability sake?

Everytime you fill the fuel tank for the motor, and the LP tank for your appliances, shut down everything possible. Wanna know why? Fire up your furnace and water heater and pull the inspection covers on the outside... They are just blow torches. You wouldn't hold up a lit match while you pump gas, so why use your appliances?

Shut down all of your appliances. I recommend that you do that before you even get close to the gas station parking lot. Make sure you get the power switch and not some other selector switch. Doing that will make sure that the automatic ignitors do not try and fire. If you want to go one step farther, you can turn off the 12v master disconnect switch if your motorhome has one.

When you fill the LP tank, make sure that the service valve is closed. It isn't common, but you can blow apart the regulators in your appliances if you don't.

I'll try to post pics this weekend. We bought a rental from Cruise America, 98 Tioga 24', E-350 cab with a V-10

When they sell thier rentals they TOTALLY refurbish them. New carpets, upholstery, cushions, matresses, brakes, bla bla bla.... It already has a generator, and the only thing we added was an awning. All that for the bargan price of $20,000

The plan is to use it for towing the Cruiser.

I watched a motorhome torch because the dumbass didn't turn his hot water heater off while re-fueling the propane. The fill valve on the propane tank developed some frost and didn't close all the way. When they un-hooked the filler valve it sarted leaking and caught on fire from the hot water tanke directly above it. It was a total loss, and a big mess. I always turn everything propane off, close the main tank valve and try and light the stove to be sure the system is clear before re-fueling.

You are gonna find that you will spend the most of your time under the awning! Those things rock! Just make sure you keep an eye on it if the wind comes up. It doesn't take a very big gust of wind to take that awning and wrap it over the top of the roof. When that happens, chit gets expensive quick.

Yeah, that thing will tow the Cruiser in style!

I'm sure thats why the rentals didn't have them already

My only concern right now is that the hitch is rated for 3500, and the Cruiser weighs in at a fat 4490

Class II hitch? Step up and buy the Class III, then throw a set of equalizer bars on it. You will be good to go.

Except the Dawg is flat towing last time I checked. Eric, I would bump up the hitch rating and remeber you're towing that fat pig
