propane on an N/A enigine?

http://www.members.shaw.ca/k2pilot/P...20article.html

Found this while looking into lightly bombing my 7.3 idi..I found a turbo kit advertised but havent called..This seems so much cheaper..

What are you diesel experts thoughts on this for more power. Will i have to back it off when i add a turbo..

IDI without a turbo is a pig. General consensus is propane without a turbo is a waste. Check out oillburners.net They are the IDI experts.

been looking there for a while..they do seem to be experts but they dont try anything over the top for mods..Plus there isnt much for MDTs at all there..

Not sure how much of a pig the truck is as it gets around pretty good for me..The turbos ive seen only have about 30 more hp.Maybe i will get to drive an idi with a turbo in an mdt to feel the difference.

Im sure they will be a big help when i need to repair..

Trust me, turbo is the way to go with an IDI.

I've got a F-250 with a new ATS Aurora turbo on it, and it's like a totally different truck. I've tried propane, but found an intercooler and a turbo was the best way to get the most reliable power out of an IDI. I'm on oilburners all the time too, and while they may not do crazy builds and huge power, they know what works.

i saw that turbo. it seems like its a good deal at 2100.Its not intercooled though.Im thinking i may be able to get a small intercooler behind my bumper. It will be a while before i can do that as im looking for a travel trailer to stay in and tow with my ramp truck.

there is a guy on the diesel stop who put propane on his 6.9, with some real world data to compare. IIRC, he gained 10mph pulling a grade near his house...

But yeah, a turbo is really what make the difference on these motors. After putting a turbo on mine, Hills I used to have to down shift on, I could now accelerate up in 5th gear..
