Anyone with a PS Excursion?

My wife and I are thinking about selling the 1/2 ton burb and getting an PS Excursion. I would rather have a crew cab but the wife wants the people and cargo room like our Sub have. So so since Chevy can't get off there ass and put a deisel in the Sub I guess it will be the Excursion. My question is about the ride, how well they pull and gas milage. It will be a daily driver for the wife but she only works 10 miles away so the comute is not bad. Any info would be great.

Man, I'd love to have one of these - the perfect drag-your-crap-to-Moab vehicle. Alas, it's another Taurus for me.

From the reviews I've read, they don't ride quite as well as a 'Burban, probably because of the solid front axle, but I haven't driven one. If you do, let us know. Speaking of the front axle, do Excursions get '60's like the SuperDuty's?

I have a V10 Ex, but have only had it a short time. Towed with it a few time (cars and boats) and I love it. My rig is light however. The ride is very plush for a solid axle setup. I am prety tall and the rig is incredibly comfortable for me, my wife has some problems reaching the pedals. The cargo/pass room is AWESOME. I have a big family, and we like to camp, and my kids like to bring company and its still got enough room for everyone/thing.

I wanted a deisel too, but I got mine for so cheap ($20K wi 13K miles) I went for the V10. Towing the sami on a trailer with 5 people and a LOT of gear I got 11mpg to the con @60-65mph. The V10 is also pretty quiet compared to the PSD. I figure the V10 will also be happier than a PSD with the wife's off/on short drive schedule since we live in a SMALL town. Our Ex will be in the family for a long time.

GO DIESEL, or go home. The tanks are 42 gallons, gettint 9 or 10 unloaded only puts you at the 400 mile mark...our diesel gets 16 unloaded...not bad for an 8000lbs+ truck. Still aint no duramax for mileage! 21 mpg if I take it ez!

After driving my f350 the wife wants an Ex in PSD.

I have driven a few, and the ride is compairable if not better then my SD. I get 16 to 18mpg right now towing or not doesnt matter with my SD. I hear people with Ex are getting right in there, with an exhaust and reprogram of the chip there getting 20/23 mpg.

Go to http://www.ford-diesel.com/ They have a section on EXs.

That was just a rumor about not making new ones. Wait to get an 03 with the new 6.0 PSD if you are not in a hurry.

I saw in Car & Driver that they'll go away after the 2004 model year but, as someone else mentioned, they'll get the 6.0 later in 03.

Now if they'd just put that motor in an Expedition or F150...

I am not sure if they will put it in the Expedition or F150 for production but my friend went to some "special" Ford show and he said there was one there in a F-150.
