Factory Hitch
I just got a bumper pull trailer which Ill be towing with my 04 Dodge CTD, the load will be my 95 CTD, which in total weights appox. 8500-9000lbs. I was wonder if the factory hitch is good for this application or if I should step up to a aftermarket W.D. hitch? I have towed with this setup one trip so far it was roughly 200miles and it did great without a sway away system or anything (except for the brakes since I need a controller
), but Im just concerned about reliablility since it will be seeing some 1000mile trips.

Should be some markings on it somewhere that tell you what class hitch it is.

factory hitch
On top near where the trailer jack would mount.....stamped into the metal.
Size of ball ..if ball mount...Patent numbers...Brand of maker...company name.. weight that this hitch will take vertically and horizontally. Stamped into the metal...so it could be covered over in paint but by law it is there. KGG |
